On September 11, Valerie Steele, director and chief curator of The Museum at FIT, will give the keynote speech at the Fashion Colloquia Roma, organized by the Accademia Costume & Moda. This year’s theme is “On Fashion Curating: Heritage and Disruption.”
The colloquium will investigate how history and heritage can lead to disruption, and where fashion disruption should start. Innovation in the industry has always arisen from authenticity, from historical roots, not simply the desire to replicate the past but to question it and to create new languages.
The event will be held at the Maxxi Museum in Rome.
