In late September, a French translation of Sneakers: Fashion, Gender, and Subculture by Yuniya (Yuni) Kawamura, Sociology, was published by Les Presses Universitaires du Septentrion, located in Lille, France. The French title is Sneakers: Mode, genre et masculinité, du Bronx à la marchandisation. The book explores the obsessions and idiosyncrasies surrounding the sneaker phenomenon, from competitive subcultures to sneaker painting and artwork.
