President Joyce F. Brown discusses the launch of the Social Justice Center, her morning routine, and how her job has changed over the last 25 years as FIT’s president: “We sit at the intersection of education and industry. Couture Council Luncheon
The Couture Council of The Museum at FIT (MFIT) honored Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director of women’s haute couture, ready-to-wear, and accessories collections for Dior, with its 2022 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion. The award was presented by Samira Nasr, editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar, during the council’s annual fundraising luncheon, held this year at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center on September 7.

Wearing White After Labor Day

Vincent Quan, chair, Fashion Business Management at FIT’s school in Korea, on virtual fashion avatars: “Common brands will have challenges integrating themselves because the middle of the road consumer isn’t in the metaverse yet.  Middle America will get the metaverse, but it will take time.”

Iconic Hard Rock T-Shirt
CJ Yeh, professor, Creative Technology and Design, on the iconic Hard Rock t-shirt:  “The success of this T-shirt isn’t about the design. It’s about the graphic. Normally, graphic tees become famous because of their design, because it’s unique and eye-catching. But this particular graphic tee is a cultural icon.”
