In November, Valerie Steele, director of The Museum at FIT, delivered a plenary talk about museum fashion exhibitions at the 2024 Contemporary Fashion Dynamics Symposium, hosted by the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest. The symposium brought together internationally renowned fashion and design experts for thought-provoking discussions exploring the contemporary intersections of fashion, culture, and media.

Steele’s lecture, “Fashion in the Museum: A History of Collecting and Exhibiting Fashion,” offered insights into her celebrated career and was the symposium’s closing presentation. In addition to her work as a fashion historian and curator, Steele is the author of the books The Corset and Fashion Designers A–Z, among others. A book signing followed Steele’s lecture.
