The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), part of the State University of New York (SUNY) and a leader in art, design, business, and technology education, today announces the launch of an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing (CFM). Applications are now open for the program, which will commence in fall 2026. Built upon the success of FIT’s renowned and unique Bachelor of Science degree program in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing, this financially accessible new offering provides a streamlined pathway into beauty, one of the world’s fastest-growing industries, projected to exceed $580 billion by 2027 (mckinsey.com).

The AAS program will launch students into the multifaceted field of beauty through cross-disciplinary learning that integrates sensory evaluation, brand development, and the business of beauty. This holistic approach reflects the rapid changes reshaping the industry and prepares students to thrive in a field where success increasingly depends on interdisciplinary skills and global awareness. Students will have the exciting opportunity to work in FIT’s Annette Green Fragrance Foundation Studio, the only facility of its kind on a U.S. college campus. In addition, they will benefit from access to the Beauty Center at FIT, a dynamic research center for industry, dedicated to global business strategy and consumer trends.

Upon graduation, in addition to direct-to-career outcomes, students will be eligible to pursue other BS degrees at FIT’s Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology, including Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing.

“The AAS in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing underscores FIT’s mission to shape the future of an industry where creativity and business innovation meet,” said Shannon Maher, dean of FIT’s Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology.

“The launch of FIT’s AAS in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing reflects our leadership in beauty education—preparing students with the skills to succeed, while serving the evolving needs of this dynamic industry,” said Virginia Bonofiglio, chair of Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing.
