Jennifer R. Shloming, associate professor and assistant chair of Science and Math, gave a presentation during National Distance Learning Week (NDLW) on November 6 for SUNY Online. SUNY Online’s seminars were also promoted on the United States Distance Learning Association website.
The NDLW webinars are designed to generate greater awareness of and appreciation for distance learning, discuss current issues and emerging trends, highlight best practices, and recognize leaders in the field. Shloming discussed the topic of “side quests” in her lecture—optional activities that let students spark their curiosity in a topic that may not be covered in class that can earn them a bonus and develop skills.
