Urban Buzz: Bees and Beekeeping in NYC

October 5, 2017 at 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

beekeepers working on FIT's rooftop hives

This talk, “The Honeybee Conservancy and FIT Hives,” is an exploration of the diverse types of bees in New York, the complex relationship between pollinators and people, and a discussion of why urban beekeeping benefits the city and how we can protect bees in a time of abrupt environmental change. It will be accompanied by a guided tasting flight of honey from New York City and around the world. Interested students can stay after the presentation to learn about getting involved in leadership for FIT Hives.

This event is part of Fall 2017 Sustainability Awareness Week, which is held throughout campus the week of October 2–6.
