Three Division of Information Technology staff members gave presentations at the 2017 SUNY Technology Conference June 19 through 22 in Lake Placid, NY. This is the first time so many FIT community members have been selected to lead sessions at one of these events.
- Lionel Torres gave a presentation about the technology FIT added to allow cell phone coverage in all the lower levels of campus buildings. It was a unique solution because it supports multiple carriers, including Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile.
- Walter Kerner‘s session was titled “Building a Culture of Cyber Awareness.” He lectured about how to establish, implement, and nurture training an organization on information security.
- James Pearce explained his model to provide support for emerging technologies, using the partnership between Academic Affairs and IT that has brought in technology such as augmented reality, virtual reality, and drones as an example. Another highlight of his talk was projects by graduating students that used VR.
