Staff Members Participate in Operation Backpack

Friday, August 17, the Division of Information Technology invited FIT staff members to participate in Volunteers of America’s Operation Backpack program, which provides more than 18,000 homeless children with a new backpack full of every grade-specific school supply they need in time for the first day of school. Students will receive their backpacks before the first day of school, so that they can start the year looking and feeling more like their housed classmates and less like a child in need.

Staffers took part by filling backpacks with items purchased from the nonprofit’s shopping lists in a conference room on the 13th floor of the offices at 333 Seventh Avenue. The completed packs were donated to Volunteers of America.
