The Museum of Modern Art interviewed Natalie Nudell, History of Art, for a post about the late Ruth Finley, creator of the Fashion Calendar, on its Items blog. Nudell, whose documentary on Finley, Calendar Girl, is expected to be released next year, describes how the Fashion Calendar came into existence and what it meant to the fashion industry, and how Finley was responsible for the development of many of fashion’s biggest talents.

The Items blog, which was launched with MoMA’s Items: Is Fashion Modern? exhibition, has been maintained though the exhibition ended early in 2018. The Q&A is required reading for students taking MoMA’s online course Fashion as Design, offered through Coursera.
