Bryant Small

Family Jewels, alcohol ink on yupo paper, 40 by 60 inches, 2017.
Bryant Small, Advertising and Marketing Communications '06, paints abstract canvases with alcohol inks. Traditionally used in crafting rather than fine art, isopropanol-based ink resembles an intensely pigmented, luminous watercolor. Small’s mother, an artist herself, introduced him to the medium two and a half years ago; within a few months, he found representation in a local gallery in Bayonne, New Jersey, thanks in part to the gallerist recognizing his work from Instagram. His paintings have hung in more than 60 shows across the country. A seasoned marketer, he recently launched Art Is the Brand, a company that helps artists and gallerists grow their business.
