Bryant Small, Advertising and Marketing Communications ’06, paints abstract canvases with alcohol inks. Traditionally used in crafting rather than fine art, isopropanol-based ink resembles an intensely pigmented, luminous watercolor. Small’s mother, an artist herself, introduced him to the medium two and a half years ago; within a few months, he found representation in a local gallery in Bayonne, New Jersey, thanks in part to the gallerist recognizing his work from Instagram. His paintings have hung in more than 60 shows across the country. A seasoned marketer, he recently launched Art Is the Brand, a company that helps artists and gallerists grow their business.
