Sew4Lives, a nationwide network of volunteers launched by two FIT alumni in response to COVID-19, has gathered alumni, students, and faculty together to make hospital-grade masks for frontline workers across some 20 states. To date, over 5,000 masks have been delivered to essential workers. WWD.com and WWD (both April 10) included FIT in an article on how fashion schools have moved classes online due to COVID-19; the article features Sandra Markus, chair, Fashion Design.

Joanne Arbuckle, deputy to the president for Industry Partnerships and Collaborative Programs and acting dean of the School of Graduate Studies, spoke with TheDailyBeast.com (April 6) for an article on how FIT, and the fashion world at large, is responding to COVID-19. The article was picked up by Yahoo.com.

Mark-Evan Blackman, assistant professor, Fashion Design, spoke with WSJ.com (March 23) and The Wall Street Journal (March 29) about the returning popularity of the nightshirt for men.

Shawn Grain Carter, associate professor, Fashion Business Management, spoke with VogueBusiness.com (March 30) for an article on how fashion schools are moving classes online due to COVID-19.

Valerie Steele, director and chief curator, The Museum at FIT (MFIT), spoke about the popularity of latex in WWD (March 27). Steele gave her thoughts to Barrons.com (April 11) on the subject of fashion in a post-COVID-19 world.

Hyperallergic.com (April 2) reported that MFIT’s Twitter account participated in #MuseumsThankHealthHeroes by sharing a photo of American Red Cross nurse uniforms from MFIT’s permanent collections. The hashtag is a gesture of appreciation for health care workers during COVID-19.

VMagazine.com (March 24) included MFIT’s Fashion Culture Podcast as one of “10 Podcasts to Tune In To Right Now.”

VanityFair.it (Italy, March 27) included MFIT in its roundup of the best online fashion museums to explore. Coveteur.com (April 5) and MarieClaire.com.tr (Turkey, April 6) included MFIT in a list of fashion museums you can tour online.

Ballerina: Fashion’s Modern Muse, an exhibition at MFIT, received coverage on LeMonde.com (France, April 7), IreneBraination.com (April 10), and in Quest (March issue), Spirit Westsider (March 11),  Luxury (April issue), and Glise (Mexico, April issue, pg. 132).
