The New York District Export Council (NYDEC) selected Christine Pomeranz, chair, International Trade and Marketing, as its vice chairperson. NYDEC members are appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to provide leadership and education to small- and medium-sized businesses looking to export abroad.
Through her efforts, jointly with Adjunct Assistant Professor Lawrence Delson and other NYDEC members, NYDEC’s Next Generation Micro Grant was created. The first grant was awarded to Gabriela Generalao, president of FIT’s International Trade Student Association, who conducted a study of Filipino workers in Japan during the International Trade and Marketing practicum there in January 2020.
