Six FIT Students Are CFDA Scholarship Finalists

Six FIT students—four from the Fashion Design undergraduate program and two from the graduate program—have been selected as finalists for the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Scholarship program from among more than 170 applications. The final selections will be made by the end of June.

The FIT student finalists are: Erick Garcia, of the Bronx, New York, a finalist for the CFDA Design Scholar Award and a 2019 graduate of the Fashion Design program; Mohua Goswami, of Pune, India, a finalist for the CFDA Design Scholar K11 Innovation Award and a 2019 graduate of the Fashion Design program; Yitao Li, of Taiyuan, China, a 2019 graduate of the Fashion Design program; Camerin Stoldt, of Brooklyn, New York, a finalist for the Geoffrey Beene Design Masters Scholar Award, who was in the Fashion Design MFA program; Qian Wu of Wuhan, China, a finalist for the Geoffrey Beene Design Masters Scholar Award, who was in the Fashion Design MFA program; and John Xavier, of the Bronx, New York, a finalist for the CFDA Design Scholar Award, who was a 2019 graduate of the Accessories Design program.

Established in 1996 as a merit-based talent award, the legacy CFDA Scholarship program has awarded more than $2 million and 300 scholarships to fashion design students from more than 22 invited leading American colleges and universities. Each scholarship is intended to defray the rising costs of higher education, including tuition and eligible school expenses to support creation of a senior thesis collection and portfolio.
