Elena Romero, assistant chair of Marketing Communications, was recently featured in Nadirah Simmons’ First Things First: Hip-Hop Ladies Who Changed the Game. The just-published book seeks to reframe the history of hip-hop by highlighting the achievements of women
“If anyone knows anything about hip-hop fashion, it’s Elena Romero,” Simmons declares, before offering a biography of Romero from her time in the early 1990s at local public radio station WNYC to her current position at FIT.
Romero is also scheduled to speak on a panel about hip-hop style at the Queens Library on Feb. 22.
