Quiantae Mapenzi Johnson (née Thomas), co-director of the FIT Dance Company team, is a member of the ensemble cast in the new musical Goddess, which made its off-Broadway debut on April 29, at The Public Theater.
Directed by Saheem Ali with choreography by Darrell Grand Moultrie and music/lyrics by Michael Thurber, Goddess is about a young man whose life is upended by an enigmatic singer who casts a spell on a jazz club in Mombasa, Kenya. The musical was inspired by the mythical Queen Marimba, goddess of music and heartbreak in African folklore.
Goddess runs at The Public Theater through June 8.
