Natalie Nudell, adjunct assistant professor of History of Art, was a guest on The Gilded Gentleman podcast on April 28 to discuss the legacy of the famed fashion house Prada. Coinciding with the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2, Nudell spoke about the brand’s evolution, from selling luxury leather goods in the early 20th century to becoming a modern label with both women’s and men’s wear lines.
While discussing the history of the brand, the podcast also promoted Nudell’s peer-reviewed book In American Fashion: Ruth Finley’s Fashion Calendar, which was recently released in paperback. Additionally, Nudell discussed the significance of FIT’s Fashion Calendar Research Database, comprising over 39,000 pages of material, including the archive of three periodicals published by Ruth Finley (1920–2018) between 1941 and 2014: Fashion Calendar (1941–2014), Home Furnishings Calendar (1947–1951), and Fashion International (1972–2008).
