FIT’s School of Graduate Studies has received a major new accolade. FIT placed very high in the 2026 U.S. News and World Report ranking of top Master of Fine Arts (MFA) programs. FIT’s MFA programs were ranked No. 10 in New York State and No. 34 nationally, tied with Arizona State University, Cornell University, The University of Chicago, and others.
FIT offers three MFA degrees, in Fashion Design, Illustration, and Exhibition and Experience Design.
The U.S. News and World Report 2026 Best Fine Arts Programs rankings were based on a peer assessment by deans and other top academics at 222 art and design programs nationwide. Survey recipients rated the schools on a scale of 1 (marginal) to 5 (outstanding), with the option of selecting “don’t know.” The 184 schools that received 10 or more ratings were included in the list.
