FIT community members are invited to submit works for consideration in the upcoming Faculty/Staff/Student Art Exhibition. This is the first year that students will be included in this annual show. Works will be featured in the Lynn and Carl Goldstein Gallery, the Gladys Marcus Library, and Gallery FIT.
In recognition of FIT’s commitment to creating a civil, inclusive campus for all, the annual faculty and staff exhibition will include student work for the first time. The theme will be “Expressions of Civility.”
What does it mean to be civil in a world that is increasingly not? In an era where personal attacks and inflammatory positions have superseded dialogue and debate, how do we seek to understand that which separates us and builds connections that increase empathy, inclusivity, knowledge and community strength? Civility—and the ability to reconcile our differences for the greater good—is at the very root of a democratic society. It spurs forward movement, it moves us past our points of conflict, it is what fuels progress. Ultimately, it’s the only thing that ever has.
All submitted works must follow this theme.
The exhibition will be on view in the following venues on the dates below:
Lynn and Carl Goldstein Gallery, Feldman Center, Ninth Floor (Faculty/Staff Work): November 14, 2018–October 2019
