Playground of My Mind, the graphic memoir by Julia Jacquette, Fine Arts, is excerpted and included in Houghton Mifflin’s Best American Comics 2018. She’ll be speaking on a panel with other comic artists whose work is also included in the book about their own work and the current flourishing world of comic art. The panel discussion and book signing will be held at The Strand bookstore on Wednesday, October 3, at 7 pm. The Strand is located at 828 Broadway at 12th Street in Manhattan.
Jacquette and Playground of My Mind were also the subject of a feature article in The New York Times last year. The illustrations from the memoir were first on view as part of her solo exhibition Julia Jacquette: Unrequited and Acts of Play at Hamilton College’s Wellin Museum; the Wellin created a video to accompany the exhibition that documents Jacquette’s work and the inspiration for Playground of My Mind.
