Richie Narvaez, English and Communication Studies, was invited to be one of the judges for the 2019 PEN Open Book Awards, part of PEN America’s Literary Awards.
This year’s awards will confer more than $370,000 to writers and translators whose exceptional literary works were published in 2018. The $5,000 PEN Open Book Award goes to an exceptional book-length work of any genre published in the United States in 2018 by an author of color. The awards will be given out at a ceremony on Tuesday, February 26.
Narvaez is the author of the crime fiction novel Hipster Death Rattle, which will be released March 11, 2019.
