Advertising and Marketing Communications Faculty Member to Receive Trailblazer Award

Elena Romero will receive a Trailblazer of the Year award from Harlem fashion boutique Harlem Haberdashery as part of its 2016 Masquerade Ball benefiting Harlem Hospital Center’s Pediatric Department Unit this March. Romero is being recognized for her individual contributions and devotion to the fashion community, her academic work, and her public education advocacy efforts as a member of the Community Education Council for District 15. Other award recipients include Tamika Mallory, a nationally recognized civil rights activist; former executive director of the National Action Network, and founder of Mallory Consulting, LLC; and Khary Lazarre-White, executive director and co-founder of Brotherhood/Sister Sol.

The 2016 Masquerade Ball and awards ceremony will take place March 5 at Harlem Hospital Center’s Mural Pavilion, which houses historic Works Progress Administration murals painted by African American artists. Two hundred and fifty guests are expected to attend.
