Illustration Alumna Molly Crabapple Renders a Bold Vision for the Future

Illustration alumna Molly Crabapple ’04 has become one of the nation’s leading graphic artists, with a long and growing list of accolades. In 2018, for example, she illustrated Brothers of the Gun, a memoir by Syrian journalist Marwan Hisham. Kirkus Reviews called it “an important contribution to understanding how a nation can disintegrate before one’s eyes.” The Museum of Modern Art and the Library of Congress own her work.

Crabapple has never kept her progressive politics a secret, and in a recent collaboration with New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, she helps articulate a vision for the future: the much-discussed Green New Deal. Whatever your leanings, the artist’s renderings are beyond gorgeous—they’re perfect.
