The NFLxFIT event visual system designed by C.J. Yeh and Christie Shin last year (invitation pictured above) has been honored with a Silver A’ Design Award. A’ Design Awards is a premier annual juried design competition that honors the best designers, architects, engineers, design studios and design oriented companies worldwide. It is one of the largest international design competition of its kind. This year, over 40,000 entries were submitted worldwide, and only 2 percent of submissions were given the prestigious silver award.
This event identity system was designed for the NFLxFIT Visual Identity Design Exhibition and Award Ceremony. (The NFLxFIT design competition for students, with separate designs, was also overseen by Yeh and Shin; read about that here.) The primary mark, “shield x dot,” was inspired by the logos of the two collaborating brands, NFL and FIT. The gray pattern consists of iconic shapes extracted from all 32 NFL team logos. The core design concept is to create a sophisticated unification of the identity from all organizations involved through a symphony of shapes.
